Review : Latin American Gastronomic Fair in London

In October ... London had an opportunity to experience and taste the flavours of Latin America, charities from the South american countries, gather together under one roof, to have a taste of the exotic dishes, desserts, drinks from Latin America.

In two roms, one for crafts and music, and the other for food, drinks and also music.

The Bolivian Food Stand , with delicious food !!

Bolivia, took part with the charity " Friends of Bolivia " having the food stall and also the crafts stall. Las Saltenas from the Friends of Bolivia Stand, proved to be popular, and soon were sold out, as well as having the popular bolivian beer : Pacena. and many different other dishes.

As well as that We ( my friend Angela and myself Lindsey from "Bolivian Heritage" group) took part. With our costumes we were helping the craft and food stall, also we were letting the other countries' stands and all the other people know about the bolivian food, as we walked along the place. Also we were quite lucky enough to be able to perform a dance from Bolivia called : Morenada. in front of such an amazing and welcoming crowd, which was enjoying all the other performances and having a great time !

The place was packed with loads of people, who clearly enjoyed the food, the music, and the atmosphere was lovely. For us another oportunity to show and share our culture through dance and chatting to people, they clearly wanted to take a little memory with them by taking pictures with us.

It was a very nice event at a very nice venue, and now we are really looking forward to next years' event , and hope that you too can come next year and enjoy the magic from Latin American under one roof, and dont forget to visit the Bolivian Stand, see you next year ! :)

...::: It's London Cocktail week !! What a better reason to make cocktails !! :::...

It's London Cocktail week, so why not make your cocktails. I'm certainly trying !! and I'm sharing some of the recipes of some of the cocktails Ive done so far :)
Miss Obleas: Cocktail Recipes:

  Pineapple Mojito
A fruity take on the original, this time using pineapple to create a lovely sweet flavour.
6 Mint leaves, plus an extra spring to decorate
4 Pineapple chunks, plus a wedge to decorate
2 teaspoons soft light brown sugar
Ice cubes
Crushed ice
2 Measures golden rum, such as Havana Club
Pineapple Juice, to top up

Put the mint leaves, pineapple chunks and sugar into a cocktail shaker and muddle together. Half fill the shaker with ice cubes and fill a highball glass with crushed ice. Add the rum to the shaker and shake until a frost forms on the outside of the shaker. Strain over the ice in the glass. Top up with pineapple juice and stir. Decorate with a pineapple wedge a mint spring and serve.

Enjoy ! :)

St Albans Food And Drink Festival Finale: Review: from a local consumer...

I lived in St Albans for the past 13 years, I love when the local community gets together outdoors and everyone shares and gets together, as well as discovering, what St. Albans and surroundings has to offer, from local shops, restaurants, organic food, wines, sweet treats, music, etc. And The Food and Drink Festival is an excellent experience to do so, I always look forward to it, specially the finale, there is something new each year, and luckily the weather on sunday was good !

Bar Meze
With different stalls in St.Peters Street I started my journey and discovered the first stalls of food !! the first being Bar Meze "The cuisine of Cyprus" offering many meaty dishes, and I wanted to start with something sweet so I couldnt help but to stop at the cupcake stall, "Yummy Mummys Cakes" from Harpenden, I couldnt make my mind up on which cupcake to choose !! They kindly gave me a mini one to try, and after a while I made up my mind , I chose the tiramisu cupcake, and it was delicius!!!

Yummy Mummys Cupcakes !! and my delicious tiramisu cupcake on the front :)

So I carry on along St. Peters Street, to find more stalls of restaurants, mini food vans, and something that cought my eye, a Japanese stall, which I havent seen before, they were selling sushi and curry, and wanted to try the sushi, it looked  really nice, I tried the teriaky Chiken sushi, which was delicious. I had to come back for more later!!

The Japanese Stall !! and the delicious Sushi

A taste of the Caribbean , with the Caribbean food stall

St. Michaels Manor hotel popular sweet treats
Walking down the street, no one could resist but to stop at the St. Michaels Manor Hotel stall, as they had some eye catching mini desserts on their table, which they were decorating right there !! They look so delicious, and after a while they were giving them for free !! as a nice treat , and they were delicious!! from the typical english scones, cream and jam and the crowd really enjoyed them, I certainly did !! totally delicious !!

The Bake house ! with more sweet treats :)

Local produce, organic produce !!
There were also stalls from local pubs and restaurants, Carluccio, the Peahen, Nandos! and others, there were so much food to choose from as well as some wine tasting , and some local produce, organic vegetables and homemade treats , which I found out at Sweet Lily's Stall, they were selling homemade jams, chutneys, cakes, cupcakes... which look and tasted delicious.
